Tatarstan Project (Russian Federation)
December
2006 to February 2008
In December 2006 Food Chain Partners
Worldwide Ltd was appointed to work with the Ak Bars Holding Group to develop a new business model
for its poultry meat operations in Tatarstan.
During 2007 an integrated business model
was designed to double the size of their operations. The project included the
specification of housing and equipment for breeder, broiler and hatchery
operations. The business management structure was reviewed and employee numbers
were recommended in order to operate the new business cost effectively.
The project team including Food Chain
Partners local Russian representative Ms Margarita Kashirina,
Dutch business consultant Mr Eric Mooiweer and Mr Jim
Johnston worked closely with the local management team and the breeding company
Hubbard to review work practices and improve performance of the existing
business.
A key element of the project was to provide
experienced support to the management team in facing the challenges of
improving the existing business as well as designing the larger operations. A
Task Team consisting of nominated local managers was put together to work with
the consultants in a project team to review operations in each department of
the business and identify areas for improvement. These areas were then prioritised
and resources put to work to improve the operating performance.
